What brought you to West Side and how long have you been worshiping here?

In 1980, my fiancé Dan and I started attending West Side, looking for a church community where we could become actively involved together. Mike Ireland was the preacher, and we were excited to join the vibrant young married class after our wedding. Upon graduation, Dan had a promising job opportunity in Searcy, so we chose to settle down and start our family here. We've been proud members of West Side for 45 years, raising our children and some of our grandchildren in this community.

Share some things to help us know more about you?

I have been a Harding dormitory manager, a chapel checker, babysitter, and I worked crafting silk lampshades for an elite lighting company. I spent five years teaching at Harding Academy and as an adjunct in the University's education department before I sensed a deeper calling. In 2009, I became one of the founders of CrossPointe Preparatory, creating an exciting new university-model option for families. I’ve served as CrossPointe's administrator since its inception, and, Lord willing, I look forward to many more years in this role.

What’s a new thing in your life right now?

Since Dan retired, he takes great delight in cooking, crafting menus, and shopping for groceries, and I couldn't be happier with him taking on these roles. It's truly a wonderful arrangement!

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I’m a Northern girl, and I became a member of the Polar Bear Club during high school. The daring initiation involved swimming across the freezing cold Lycoming Creek in Pennsylvania at 5:00 a.m. Yes, I braved it! My claim to fame certainly sends chills just thinking about it.

What’s an act of kindness or encouragement you’ve received from someone at West Side?

I have been truly encouraged by Nathan Guy's acknowledgment of my work with CrossPointe. Receiving validation from someone I deeply respect is incredibly uplifting and motivates me to continue pursuing my calling.
