Dan Dawson

What would you like to share with us to help get to know you better?

I have been a member at West Side since 1980, 45 years ago. My fiancé Tammy and I were going to College Church, and we decided we wanted to start our life together at a congregation that wasn’t so large. We visited West Side and have been members ever since. I am recently retired after a 44-year career in the water and wastewater industry, with my last 41 years at Searcy Water Utilities. I have a BS in Chemistry and an MBA, both from Harding.

Who is an inspirational person in your life?

Victor Rodriguez, who was my mentor when I was in my early teens.  There is no way to measure what trouble he helped me to avoid in that time of my life.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Having unlimited financial resources so that the nonprofits I work with could be free to carry out their missions and visions.

What’s an act of kindness or encouragement you’ve received from someone at West Side?

The outpouring of concern, support and encouragement when our granddaughter Kelley was having her brain surgeries.

What’s a new skill you are learning?

I am learning American Sign Language!
