(Ages: Kindergarten through College)
Provides an opportunity for students to use their God-given talents in drawing, painting, photography, collage, or other
art media to communicate a Biblical message related to the annual convention theme. You will be working independently
with John Keller and other area artists as resources. Typically, entries will be judged for form (construction and
composition), content (the message), and creativity (originality of the work).
(Ages: 3rd grade through 12th grade)
A great way to learn more about the Bible, but it takes work! Students read and do questions in their workbooks over
2 or 3 chapters per week. Then on Sunday evenings, we check answers and review with quizzes and games. For those going
to Nashville, teams of four will be chosen by participation, attitude, and quiz scores. A written test will be given in
February. We will meet on Saturdays in January and February to prepare for the written test.
(Ages: Kindergarten through Adult)
Memorize 100 scriptures (10, 50, or 100 at a time) and recite them to your team leader. This is a great way
to keep God's word at the forefront of your mind.
(Ages: 9th grade through 12th grade)
Groups of two work together to formulate speeches that are used for and against a predetermined topic that has
to do with that year's theme. These students learn the correct way to debate.
(Ages: Kindergarten through Adult)
Being a good Samaritan means doing something good to help someone. This can be a family member as long as it is not
your regular chore. You keep your own service log of what you do. (This can be scout projects, 4-H projects, etc. as
long as it is a service to others.) Most of this will be done on your own, but we do some projects together during the
year. Announcements will be put in Family News for special projects. Your service log must be turned in by the end of
December, but you can count anything you did from January through December.

Article/Editorial - Submit a 200 - 250 word essay that would be written for publication in a Christian magazine.
Audio Presentation - Submit a 20 - 30 second public service announcement that a ministry might place on the radio.
Video Presentation - Submit a 2.5 - 3 minute info video suitable for use on the TV.
Storyline - Create a dramatization of a Bible story, Bible truth, or a moral lesson.
Web Page - Assuming that your web page could be the viewer's only chance to experience Christianity.
(Ages: 3rd grade through College)
Students write songs suitable for singing in a group situation. All the work is done by early January and the materials
are submitted for judging at that time. You can create the words to a song, music to a song, or both
The emphasis in the class is on expressing your faith through music. You do not have to be able to read or write musical
notation to participate, though you will be learning some along the way.
(Ages: 3rd grade through Adult)
Learn and practice the skill of reading the Bible out loud. You will learn how to interpret the meaning and convey that
meaning as you read.
(Ages: Kindergarten through 12th grade)
Encourages you to read you Bible throughout the year. You can choose to read the Old Testament, the New Testament
or the entire Bible.
(Ages: Any)
Prepares and performs skits for West Side's Christian Soldiers class, with the
possibility of doing skits for other local
groups. We coordinate with Mike and Marsha Hendrix for dates and lesson plans. We welcome all age and skill levels
for skit writers and performers
(Ages: 3rd grade through 12th grade)
Teams are divided into age groups and each come up with a puppet skit centered
around the convention theme for that year.
We design and build our own sets and have a lot of fun working together. Puppet teams learn how to properly use their
puppet (voice volume and inflection and correct entering and exiting, etc.) and teamwork skills are enriched. The
main objective of puppeteering is to learn a fun skill that can be used to teach children about God.

To work as a group to make a scrapbook of the year that will serve as a history of
our activities and events in Lads to Leaders.

To teach young men the skills needed to effectively lead in congregational singing
(Ages: 3rd grade through College)
Gives girls of all ages an opportunity to select and lead songs for other women. Meeting times will include basic discussion of
music theory and proper technique, but attention will be given to the heart and message of the songs chosen. Participants
going to Nashville will choose one song to lead for a group of judges there. The leading of songs in front of other women
may be settings beyond the Sunday night meeting time (ex. Ladies night out).

Speech is designed to develop speaking ability before a church, a group, or a class in those who participate. The
skills learned and the abilities developed will be useful in all aspects of life. For those who desire to attend the
Convention in Nashville, you will be given additional work and will be expected to dedicate considerable
time to developing and practicing a speech.
