How Can I Get Involved?

West Side is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here are some ways you can get involved at West Side.

Agape Groups

Often, small groups of people are better able to interact and learn about a topic than larger groups are. For that reason, West Side has small bible studies held in member homes. The size of the group varies. Agape Groups meet on Wednesday nights.

Youth Ministry

Each Sunday morning, children get to participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn. Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and thoroughly trained in children’s instruction. The youth ministry at West Side is recognized for their close interaction.

College Ministry

Over 100 of our college students meet for singing and Bible study each Sunday morning. A smaller group meets for a group study on Wednesday nights. There are plenty of opportunities for students for fellowship and service within the group and in the other ministries of the church at West Side.

Singles Ministry

Life can get complicated once you cross that nebulous threshold into adulthood. There are complicated decisions. Bigger stakes. Serious relationships. And a whole lot more decisions. The young adult group at West Side provides a welcoming atmosphere for graduate students and early-career aged adults.

Women’s Ministry

West Side’s Women’s Ministry gives the ladies in our church family special times of interaction. Our ladies Bible class on Wednesdays is a time of Bible study, prayer (and, of course, food). There is also a class that meets on Sundays, an annual retreat and other activities. This ministry provides a refreshing discipleship opportunity for the women in the church.

Men’s Prayer Group

Our Men’s prayer group meets on Tuesday mornings at 6:30 to pray about various needs of our family, community and the kingdom of God as a whole.

Married Couples

Even though marriage is one of the most important institutions, it is the one which is under the most attack–internally and externally. West Side gives married couples the opportunity to attend Bible classes for couples at various stages.

Golden Years

Once you get past fifty-five, the fun has just begin. Whether retired, just plain tired, or active as ever, the Golden Years group at West Side provides refreshment, ministry, and times of valuable interaction. Golden Years meets on Tuesday mornings.

Ushers & Greeters

The usher and greeter team at West Side fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, unlocking doors, locking doors, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher and greeter team is a servant-hearted group of people whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of West Side Church of Christ. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and audio formats. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. West Side is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday, prayer request cards are available for members and guests to communicate their needs. Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Ministry, pray for those needs. Each Sunday afternoon, the shepherds of the church come together for a special time of prayer.

Christian Soldiers

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, West Side conducts Christian Soldiers in conjunction with the evening service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.
